REGLAN 10 & 20 mg TABLETS

Generic Name: METOCLOPRAMIDE (met-o-KLO-pruh-mide)

COMMON BRAND NAME(S): Reglan

USES: This medication is used to relieve symptoms associated with stomach disorders such as nausea, vomiting, heartburn, loss of appetite, bloating and gastric reflux. It is also used to prevent or treat nausea and vomiting.

HOW TO TAKE THIS MEDICATION: This medication works best when taken or used 30 minutes before a meal.

SIDE EFFECTS: Nausea, diarrhea, headache, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth, restlessness or sleeplessness may occur as your body adjusts to the medication. If these effects persist or become bothersome, inform your doctor.

Notify your doctor if you experience involuntary movements of the eyes, face or limbs; muscle spasms or trembling of the hands while taking this medication. Also notify your doctor if you notice any personality changes such as depression.

If dizziness or drowsiness occurs, use caution engaging in activities requiring alertness.

PRECAUTIONS: Tell your doctor if you have an adrenal tumor; a seizure disorder; Parkinson's disease; high blood pressure; heart, liver, or kidney disease; mental conditions or depression; or an intestinal blockage or bleeding.

Women who are pregnant or breast-feeding should inform their doctors before taking this medication.

Alcoholic beverages can add to the drowsiness caused by this drug.

Tell your doctor of any over-the-counter or prescription drugs you are taking, especially insulin, narcotics, sedatives, tranquilizers and barbiturates.

Before having surgery with a general anesthetic, including dental surgery, tell the doctor or dentist in charge that you are taking metoclopramide.

Avoid alcohol while taking this medication.

DRUG INTERACTIONS: Tell your doctor if you are taking any of the following medications: Cimetidine, cyclosporine, digoxin, levodopa, or MAO inhibitors (e.g., furazolidone, phenelzine, selegiline, tranylcypromine) and of any other drugs, both prescription and nonprescription.

MISSED DOSE: If you miss a dose, take as soon as remembered; do not take if it is almost time for the next dose, instead, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. Do not "double-up" the dose to catch up.

STORAGE: Store at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F(between 15 and 30 degrees C) away from moisture and sunlight. Do not store in the bathroom. Do not freeze liquid forms.
